The Quick Version About JacQueline V. Roe
A lover of sweet romantic comedy books and fairytales, JacQueline enjoys telling stories, asking God hard questions, and laughing with her family and friends. She lives in North Alabama with her amazing karate husband and three book-crazy children. She takes every opportunity to drink coffee while wearing dangly earrings and the color purple.
A Little Bit More Detail
As a young teen, JacQueline was diagnosed with chronic debilitating migraines that prevented her from living a normal life. She still has no idea what that is. She completed high school in her own way, homeschooling herself through the last three years. (Full disclosure: a beloved tutor got her through algebra and geometry.) She then went on to get her B.A. in Christian Theatre and Theatre Arts from Hannibal-LaGrange College, now Hannibal-LaGrange University. Her last two years there were complicated by migraines once again, but she persevered and found her way through again.
If you’re sensing a theme in JacQueline’s life, it is one of perseverance and grace. Every hardship she has faced has convinced her to fight through the pain, depression, and anxiety and look to God for her strength. He has consistently seen her through, providing the resources and friendships that have saved her.
Christian Living, Memoir, or Inspirational Memoir?
JacQueline’s first book published, Memoirs of a Headcase: Held by the God of Hope, was a labor of love to encourage those specifically fighting chronic pain and mental illness. Shortly after it was published, tragedy struck her family. Joy, JacQueline’s brain-injured sister for whom she was the caregiver, was run over by an intoxicated driver. JacQueline fell into a deep depression as she grieved, and was unable to write nonfiction at a steady pace.
Now, years later, she has tentatively begun working again on another labor of love, The JOY Book in hopes of encouraging people who struggle with deep grief and are looking for how joy can coincide with it. There are no firm publication dates at this time.
