Need Some Quirky Sweet Romantic Comedies?
Welcome, welcome, my quirky book nerdy friends! If you are looking for some Love and Laughter in your closed-door sweet romantic comedies, check out the following books!
Abuelita’s Teeny-Tiny Prequel
Abuelita’s been loving her mijas, her dear girls, for as long as they’ve been entrusted to her. She’s helped them flourish and learn, but now that they are out on their own, their lives are getting a little too busy for love. And she knows that’s just not right. So while wrapping up things in the restaurant one night, she starts to hear a little whisper from God, an idea that’s just too good for mischievous Abuelita to ignore . . .
The Design and Destiny of Love
Get ready to giggle as Sweet Home Alabama meets Fixer Upper in a small German Mexican town in Texas!
What do you get when you add 1 uptight interior designer, 1 smirky general contractor, and 1 sneaky abuela?
My life.
When I rush to Abuelita’s bedside, scared we’re going to lose her, I realize I’ve been tricked. Tricked into moving back to the quirky town where my heart got broken. And then tricked into working with the man who broke it.
Rules to Keep Things Tidy
But I’m fine. Of course I’m fine. I have rules to keep things neat and tidy:
- No bringing up the past. It’s over and done.
- No unnecessary touching. (This shouldn’t even need to be said, but just in case . . .)
- No working alone together unless we absolutely have to. And we shouldn’t have to.
And I don’t care that my best friends remind me that my rules in highschool may have worked backwards.
SEE RULE #1!
Besides, we’ve grown up and matured (at least I have) since then.
All we need to do is come in on budget and work efficiently and we’ll both earn a bonus.
It won’t even matter that we’re working for his mother who (still) hates me.
We can do this.
I can do this.
I can! That is, as long he stops making me laugh. As long as he stops looking at me like that. As long as I never forget why I can’t forgive him.
Even if that does disappoint Abuelita. She’ll just have to understand, and stop meddling.
The Design and Destiny is the first book in the Love and Laughter series set in the quirky town of Levercusin (mispronounced Leave Ya’ Cousin), Texas. Join these best friends when they return home for goofy misadventures in love. Each book is a closed door rom com that can be read as a standalone with sizzling chemistry, but no spice, and of course its own happily-ever-after.
This book is for you if you love:
- Besties
- Forced proximity
- Second chance romance
- Fixer Upper transformations
- Quirky Small town
- Meddling Abuela
- Light Christian themes
The Facts and Fictions of Love
Get ready for some ridiculous fake-dating shenanigans when you mix a little Harry Met Sally in this small German Mexican Texas town.
Fake dating your grumpy best friend is fine if you don’t blur the lines between fact and fiction.
Fact #1 I’m a fun girl always up for a good time
Fact #2 This should not mean I can’t be responsible or committed to seeing things through
Fact #3 I may have just agreed to fake date my grumpy and super-responsible best friend to prove Facts 1-2. A little fiction shouldn’t hurt, right?
Simple, right? Wrong.
And is he the same grumpy best friend who thinks I never follow-through on any project? Yep, that would be him.
So not only do I have to convince our entire quirky small town I’m the perfect person (NOT my bossy older brother) to take over the coffee shop and the bookstore so my parents can finally enjoy their golden years, but I also have several projects I need to finish up. Especially that romance novel I’ve been dreaming up for years.
And so what if all this fake-dating does lead to some kissing practice–purely research, of course!–it’s not like we’re going to let any of this mess up our friendship.
I mean, he’s my favorite grump and I’m his annoying sunshine, it’s not like he’s going to catch feelings for me. I thought he would once, but he never did.
So we’re fine. Everything is fine.
We have clearly defined (by him, of course) parameters for this project. And once my family is on board with how I’m growing the businesses, we can take the fake dating down a notch. Eventually admit it was all fictional.
The only problem is, maybe the romance I’ve been writing is actually mine, or what I would actually like mine to be. So what happens when–I mean IF–I’m ready to admit I want more? What if he doesn’t. Will it ruin our best friendship forever?
The Facts and Fictions of Love is a standalone novel in The Love and Laughter series and can be read out of order. In it, you’ll fall in love with a quirky small town and group of best friends. Prepare yourself for witty banter, ‘80s references, sibling rivalry, sizzling kisses, but nothing spicy.
This book is for you if you like:
- Best Friends to Lovers
- Grumpy/Sunshine
- Fake Dating
- Practice Kisses
- Christmas contests
- Meddling Abuelita
- Nosy Small Town
- Besties
- Book nerds

The Trials and Triumphs of Love (Pre-Order Now)
Looking for a little You’ve Got Mail magic and Fools Rush In sizzle without all the spice?
It is a truth universally acknowledged that a young single woman in a small town is OBVIOUSLY in need of matchmaking. Whether she wants it or not. Well? This young woman neither needs it, nor wants it.
When Daniel, our new youth minister, asks me for help to put on the upcoming Valentine’s Banquet, EVERYONE is way too excited.
Please, like anything’s going to happen between us. He smiles waaaaay too much!
However, when he explains the banquet will raise funds for foster children finding their forever homes? Sign me up! But that’s ALL I’m signing up for, got it?
Listen, I have my reasons for this not getting romantic. I have more than enough on my plate.
I’ve centered my life around helping other people clean up the mess they’ve made of their marriages so their children can heal. And I’m really hoping to convince my dad’s firm to take on more cases that will help those who are hurting, not just jerks who pay well.
See? It’s essential I don’t get distracted.
Love and marriage take time, attention, and trust. I’ll just leave that to my roommates. And so what if we have to fly to Vegas for some wedding shenanigans for my most ridiculous roommate? I can carry work with me.
See? Not getting distract—
A Bit Distracted
But then the elevator stalls out.
With Daniel and I trapped together.
And I find myself asking, what happens when you’re DETERMINED to stay distant, safe, and detached, but you don’t?
People think I’m a risk-taker, but when it comes to my heart, my future, my plans? I can’t. Can I?
The Trials and Triumphs of a Love has all the:
- he falls first
- reverse grumpy/sunshine
- mistaken identity
- closed door
- small town
- Vegas wedding
romcom fun that will keep you laughing and swooning as the witty banter sparks some hilarious chemistry. Haven’t read all the books in the Love and Laughter series yet? No worries, they can be enjoyed as stand-alones.
Trigger warnings: real humans with messy marriages, small town gossipy newspapers with grammatical issues, Christians who aren’t perfect but are progressing, estranged/difficult family members who could use some healthy boundary setting, and off-page serious health issues.
